THE ASO SCORE

How the score works.

One number from 0 to 100, and a reason for every point. Here's exactly how ASOwl gets there.

Five categories, 100 points

The score is the sum of five categories. Each starts full; findings in that category take points away, and a category never drops below zero.

  • Discoverability · 30: name, subtitle, keyword field, category, search rank, demand and phrases similar apps use that you don't.
  • Conversion assets · 35: screenshots (especially the first three), app previews, description and promotional text.
  • Readiness + compliance · 20: required fields, Apple's limits, working links, screenshot sizes and transparency, placeholder text, age rating.
  • Localization · 10: languages that matter for your downloads, and how complete each one is.
  • Measurement · 5: whether you can tell what your changes did (analytics and a baseline).

Three kinds of finding

  • Blocking: Apple would refuse the upload or the submission (a missing screenshot size, a field over its limit, a broken privacy link).
  • Opportunity: an improvement worth points (an unused keyword byte, a subtitle that repeats the name).
  • Experiment: an idea worth testing. Experiments never cost points.

Rules first, AI on top

Most findings come from rule checks: plain code that runs on your Mac, is free, and gives the same answer every time. A full audit with Tyto (the first one is free) adds judgment calls, each with a confidence level, inside the same category limits, so AI findings can't push the score below what the categories allow.

You can argue

Every finding has an Ask Tyto why thread. Make your case; if Tyto agrees, it gives the points back, and the change is written to your score log with the reason.

Now versus proposed

Preview & apply scores what App Store Connect has now and what your drafts would make it, from the same analytics and market data, so the difference comes only from your changes. Every point up or down lists its reason.

Listing readiness is a different number

The Listing screen's percentage is about completeness, not quality: each field counts 1 when it's ready, 0.6 when it needs work and 0 when it's missing. A listing can be 100% ready and still have room to score higher.
